Piracicaba is the 19th city in area in the State of São Paulo, being an excellent land reserve for industrial settlements, exactly in the middle of the most developed region of the State with the highest economic potential of Brazil.

It is a city that has the ideal characteristics, such as basic sanitation, a number of schools and colleges, hospital beds and equipments and communication and transportation systems equal to or better than in the largest cities in the world.

The city has a set of Water Treatment Stations that supplies practically 100% of the population, including the rural area and the Industrial District. The sewage network system serves 97% of the city. The telecommunication sector is similar to those in the most developed centers, encompassing systems as the DDD (Direct Call at Distance), DDI (International Direct Call) and cellular telephones.

Piracicaba enjoys excellent conditions: it’s near the state’s capital, and it is connected to the most developed road system of Brazil; it’s linked (implantation phase) to Mercosur because of the Piracicaba, Tietê, and Paraná rivers; it has electrical energy available and it is already included in project for the implantation Brazil-Bolivia gas duct; it is near the Paulínia Oil Refinery, the largest of the State of São Paulo.

The city counts on an active commerce, neighborhoods with an excellent residential structure, leisure areas, service clubs, and leisure and sports clubs. Such exceptional structure has motivated the installation of big companies, national and international; such as Caterpillar - Brazil and General Motors. There is a great diversification in the industrial production, with its basis in metallurgy, where the Dedini Group stands out..

The SP-127 will also be duplicated, connecting the city to Rodovia Castelo Branco.
The enterprise will create na important corridor for the flowing of products of about 5 thousand industries in the region, making the access to the most important consumption centers of the country even easier. Besides, the Programa de Concessão de Rodovias do Estado de São Paulo, recently presented to the State Government, gives Piracicaba the privilege of having projects for the duplication of roads that connect the city to other important consumption centers of the region, such as Rio Claro, Nova Odessa, Capivari and São Pedro, creating a faster and safer road transportation system to the many regions of the state. At the moment, the work for the duplication of the road, which connects Piracicaba to Limeira, another important consumption center, is under way.

ENERGY

Presentation

The Tietê-Paraná region, to which Piracicaba has been integrated to because of the waterway system, is also benefited by the low cost of energy. It already has one of the best hydroelectric systems in the world and, next year, will start the construction of the Brazil/Bolivia gas duct, with an extension of 3,200 km. The initiative will guarantee clean and cheap for the region and, though the interaction with a cheap transportation, will stimulate the sustainable growth in all sector. Natural gas contributes only with 2% of the consumption of energy in Brazil. But, according to projections, that proportion should go reach 12% until 2010.

The State of São Paulo is the largest energy market in Brazil, with 11 GW of capacity installed and 10 million consumers, which correspond to about 34% of the national total electric energy. The generation and transmission of energy is guaranteed by three large public companies: CESP - Companhia Energética de São Paulo, Eletropaulo - Eletricidade de São Paulo S/A and CPFL - Companhia Paulista de Força e Luz.
It is within this panorama that Piracicaba is inserted. Its energy is supplied by CPFL, responsible for the distribution of energy to many important urban centers of the State.

INDUSTRIAL RESIDUE DIRECTOR PLAN

Being already approved by Diretoria de Análise de Impacto Ambiental - DAIA and by Câmara Técnica de Recursos Naturais, the project has also been approved by Consema - Conselho Estadual de Meio Ambiente. At the moment, it is being analyzed by Cetesp - Companhia de Tecnologia de Saneamento Ambiental, which will see to the license and the follow up of the sanitary Industrial Land Fill installation.

Designed to occupy an area of 3,000 m2, the landfill will have the capacity to receive 125 metric tons of solid residue and 2.5 metric tons of liquid residue. With an estimate life span of 15 years, the Industrial Landfill will only accept residues that can be buried, discarding the reception of biodegradable residues of high humidity, preventing the generation of gases and odors.

The Solid Residue Director Plan, developed to be implanted in he region of the Basin of the Piracicaba, Capivari and Jundiaí rivers, foresees the possibility of making the Industrial Landfill into a treatment station.
